While detectability is the first priority in inspection systems, the inspection instrumentation industry now has more responsibility to enable the use of these systems as more than “Go / No Go” instruments. This paper discusses the trend and importance of documentation, analysis, and traceability in inspection systems and eddy current systems in particular. It also discusses the NDT manufacturing industry’s role not only to respond to the needs of users, but also to understand the customer industry and invest in and offer both hardware and software solutions.
