Description
In this study, the authors developed an easy-release screw, which comprises a shape-memory alloy washer and screw. It was determined that the release temperature of the shape-memory alloy washer predominantly depends on the transformation point of the wire itself, as well as on the shape-memory alloy processing temperature and the amount of bending strain. By controlling these factors, it is possible to fabricate washers which have a fastening release temperature in a specified range and can be easily disassembled.
