This article describes the use of dry powder to coat wire and wire products. The process described results from 15 years of research and is cost effective for both round and rectangular wire larger than AWG#20. Detailed are the equipment and the process steps employed in production powder coating systems for wire, based on a system undergoing trials in the US in late 1981, subsequently put into production in Europe.
