The durability of Al-Cu hot-pressure welding joints used as a transition member at terminals of aluminum conductors is discussed. The hot-pressure welding procedure, mechanical properties, long-term exposure at elevated temperatures, formation of intermetallics at the weld interface, and the weakest phase of the weld are described.
