Effect of humidity of drawing environment on dynamic fatigue of polymer coated high strength silica optical fiber

$15.00

Dynamic fatigue behavior of high strength silica optical fibers were measured as a function of relative humidity of draw environment and two different mode of loading, tensile and two-point bending. Bare and polymer-coated fibers were compared to determine the effect of coating with two-point bend loading. Draw humidity was found to have a decided impact on dynamic fatigue (N-value). High strength silica optical fibers were drawn with graphite induction heating furnace and controlled temperature relative humidity and particle count of the draw environment
