The effect of oxygen on the mechanical properties of copper are discussed. Oxygen-free (OF) and toughpitch (EPT) coppers are compared. Photomicrographs and graphs show the effects of hydrogen on the OF and ETP coppers, true stress vs. reduction-in-area, fatigue strength of OF copper compared with TP copper, and softening curves.
