Carbon steel rods are characterized by their chemistry, dimensions, scale and mechanical properties. Residual elements in carbon steel rods are normally considered to be an undesirable but inevitable circumstance of the EAF steel making process. The effect on rod quality of the common residual elements and their economic impact are discussed in this paper.
