Effect of the manufacturing process of round steel ropes for wire properties

$15.00

Investigations of wire properties from steel round ropes were performed in this work. The tensile force, number of bends and number of twists of the wire were determined. A variance analysis according to the non-parametric test of Krushal-Wallis has been applied to estimate the influence of the rope manufacturing process on wire properties. Different rope construction from 1.8 to 16 mm diameter was tested. Results showed that the process of steel rope manufacturing significantly affects wire properties. Percentage variations of wire properties at subsequent stages of rope production were calculated for 13 different diameters of wire.
