Effects of compound ingredients on rubber adhesion to steel cord

$15.00

Adhesion between brass plating and rubber is influenced by numerous factors such as the compound ingredients, composition of brass plating, rubber processing conditions and aging conditions. Studies of ingredients of compound on adhesion, particularly accelerators and resins, were carried out. Accelerator deteriorated adhesion after humidity aging, whereas RF (resorcinol and methoxymethylmelamine) resin improved the adhesion. Effects of RF resin on the adhesion between brass and rubber were investigated. Three aspects showed improvement as a result of the resin: mechanical adhesion, chemical reaction and electrochemical reaction. In this paper, the best combination of accelerator and resin is proposed.
