An energy audit of Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd., is outlined in detail. Heavy drawing machines were focused upon as a primary target for energy savings increase. The development of a model drawing machine for energy conservation, including 8 items stated in the audit of energy savings areas is presented. In the copper drawing department a 15% energy reduction was realized. Practical examples of design improvements are given.
