The parameters “axial displacement” and “diameter of a free wrap” may be subjected to large variations which will affect the accuracy of resulting springs. The “Long Spring” examination method has been developed to visualize the effect of variations on the parameters of coiled spring. Additional experimental setups are not necessary because the wire testing is practice-related by using the coiling machine. Also, a test rig with a sensor wheel was developed to allow continuous, non-destructive examination.
