Description
This paper will present an experimental study on applying an abrasive water jet to clean the surface of wire and to peel off a thin layer from the wire surface simultaneously. Primary experiments have been carried out at the authors’ laboratory to study the effects of nozzle numbers, working pressure and standoff distance on the surface treatment of wire by abrasive water jet. The depth of the thin layer peeled off by the abrasive water jet depends on both the working pressure and the standoff distance under the same tractive speed.
