Description
Due to the trend of product miniaturization, the shaped wire market demands improvements in torsion and straightness, which affects dimensional accuracy and residual stress. This study clarifies the optimal drawing conditions for fabricating orthodontic rectangular wire. Drawing experiments and finite element method (FEM) analyses were carried out by varying the amount of reduction in order to improve quality and dimensional accuracy. The authors also succeeded in obtaining rectangular wire (0.63 mm x 0.42 mm, R = 0.1) by shaped drawing.
