Fatigue of steel wire and copper-clad steel conductor used for telephone drop wire

$15.00

A broad program to evaluate the fatigue behavior of steel core wire and copper clad steel conductor from various suppliers has been initiated at Bell Telephone Laboratories. In addition, the effect of the electro- forming process on the fatigue strength of the steel core and the effects of the PVC insulating process on the fatique strength of the electroformed conductor are being researched. Results of tests on this copper-clad steel conductor made by three processes results in five conclusions.
