Description
The process of zinc coating steel rope wires has an influence on their fatigue strength and tensile strength. Hot galvanizing is much more detrimental than electrogalvanizing for a decrease of those properties. Experimental results of a fatigue rotational beam test and a tensile test were used to derive statistical equations for the calculation of fatigue limits for uncoated, hot galvanized, and electrogalvanized wires with a diameter in the range from 1.5 to 2.4 mm.
