FE analysis on the laying process of wire rope based on parametric design

$15.00

In this paper a mathematical model of wire rope considering space geometric structure and characteristics of the laying process is described. With Graphical User Interface (GUI), a program for calculating boundary conditions of a three-dimensional finite element modeling is developed to create external files which are in the format of ANSYS Parametric Design Language (APEL). Additionally, the influences of self-rotating ratio and different lay direction arrangements on distribution of stress and strain acting on the wires of a strand or wire rope have been analyzed.
