As leading market forecasters predict, the potential demand for optical fibers in the United States (loop and premise), will be at least ten times that of the peak demand in 1995 (long haul, telco). This will hae a direct impact upon the manufacturing methods used to produce these optical cables. This paper will depict both the market demands and a scenario as to what we believe the manufacturing methods of tomorrow will be.
