The selection of media for filtering wiredrawing fluids is often left to chance without a clear understanding of how to specify the media or evaluate its performance. This paper is an overview of the manufacture and specification of filter media with an emphasis on those products suitable for use in filtering wiredrawing fluids. The paper will conclude with a discussion of the procedures a plant should use when evaluating the appropriate filter media for its needs.
