The author’s company produces a family of desoldering braids which are known in the industry as Soder-Wick. These braids are fabricated from fine wire drawn on-site to #42 AWG. SPC principles have been applied to the nonferrous drawing process to improve the machine’s outputs while reducing scrap from them.
