Finite element analysis of die failures in cold forming progressions

$15.00

This paper presents two case studies where a computer-based process model was used to analyze die failure and deflection in cold forming progressions. In both cases, low cycle fatigue was found to be responsible for failure in the die insert used in heading. Based on results from isothermal flow simulations, stresses and deflections in the die stack were analyzed using a one step linear analysis.
