The Properzi process is summarized from its early days in continuous casting and rolling of nonferrous rod through the development of the Micro mill for both nonferrous and ferrous rod breakdown into wire diameters. Doubts are raised abut the current thinking of continuous casting and rolling of copper rod. Small and medium size lines as compared to large lines are evaluated for flexibility, lower investment, and local market return on investments.
