This paper will present the results from gage capability studies performed on various wire softness test methods used to evaluate formability of magnet wire. Test methods included springback, 2 percent offset yield strength, elongation and the low stress elongation test. Future studies will focus on the relationship between the most reproducible and reliable test method found from this study and windability.
