Galvalume wire, with its 55% AL-ZN coating develops atmospheric corrosion resistance approximately three times that of a zinc coating of equal thickness. A hot dip process has been developed for the production of this alloy wire, inclusive of a coating weight device which can vary coating thickness independent of line speed. Coating speeds in excess of 300 ft/min. are documented. The coating process and properties fo this alloy are given.
