Description
This paper examines three trends that play a role in the design, evolution, and use of data-communication cabling today. The first is “green building,” the incorporation of rational environmental design into buildings in the USA. In parallel with this trend, there are emerging global standards and regulations addressing the environmental suitability of materials used in wire and cabling. Additionally, materials such as cable must continue to meet the demand of existing fire and electrical safety as determined by the national and local building codes.
