Various aspects of copper wire production are discussed. The principles of casting and recrystallization, hot working, cold working, and annealing are presented. The application of these principles is then described. Photomicrographs are interpreted with regard to oxide distribution, structure, and crystal size. Wire bar, hot rolled rod, cold drawing, cold rolling, annealing, and the effects of grain size on annealing schedule are discussed.
