C196 copper alloy is discussed. Metallurgy and effects of Fe 62 1P precipitate on the alloy are considered. Tensile properties, yield strength, % elongation, and resistance to softening for C196 rod and wire are presented in tabular and graphic form. C196 exhibits high strength, good conductivity, and high softening resistance. The hot and cold working characteristics are excellent. Suggested applications include tinsel wire, blanket wire, and telephone trunk lines.
