Higher wire speeds and increased production on multiple strand processing lines can be obtained by cleaning the carbon steel wire in a highly turbulent pickling solution. Q.E.D. Wire Lines Inc. has developed a “High Turbulence Multiple Stage Pickling System” that optimizes the process into several highly turbulent stages. This paper discusses the fluid flow characteristics and chemical reactions involved in the pickling process in addition to describing this new equipment and the advantages it offers the steel wire industry.
