Industriel Belge (F.I.B.), a Belgian company which manufactures furnaces and baths for the wiredrawing industry, has developed a pre-mix impulsion burner, type I.M.P., which in contrast to classical burners provides a controllable reducing atmosphere with no decarburization of wire surfaces. The furnace and quench system are described, with graphs illustrating the advantages of this system over conventional methods.
