Improving the ‘rod to wire’ chain the UPCAST® rod

$15.00

A comparison was made at several plants utilizing Outokumpu’s UPCAST® technology for producing oxygen-free copper rod. New features have been introduced, including programs for the computer-controlled casting machine for different rod applications and automatic melt handling. Wire producers can achieve significant improvements in drawability by paying close attention to copper cathode quality and metallurgical operation of the furnaces. An increase in drawing speeds while getting rid of wire breaks is possible after correctly setting the drawing process.
