In-line preparation of descaled or shot blasted rod

$15.00

Today the wiredrawer is offered a rod quality which will allow 5.5 mm (.218 in.) to be drawn to 1.1 mm (.043 in.)-0.70 % C; or 0.6 mm (.0236 in.)-CO2; or 0.3 mm (.0118 in.) without any intermediate heat treatment. Therefore 14, 16 or 20 dies, respectively, are required to draw these diameters. Rod drawing machines are being manufactured for speeds up to 25 m/sec (5,000 fpm) high carbon, or 40 m/sec (8,000 fpm) low carbon. The wire is then subjected to very demanding final conditioning in double-twist bunchers, robotic welders, automatic spring, netting or cutting machines.
