This paper examines the advantages and disadvantages of drawing high carbon wire in-line with an oil tempering furnace. As will be seen, the advantages greatly outweight the disadvantages. The advantages include greater flexibility, less inventory, reduced material handling, fewer EPA problems and an overall cost reduction in the wire mill.
