Influence of nonmetallic inclusions on drawability of high carbon steel wire rod

$15.00

The amount, size, distribution and properties of non-metallic inclusions strongly influence drawability of wire rods and wires. In order to determine the effect of inclusions on wire drawability, wire rods rolled from billets originating from three heats were investigated; in two heats, the deoxidation process was modified and nonmetallic inclusions were characterized. Wire rods were Stelmor® cooled for improved homogeneity of properties and inclusions were quantitatively and qualitatively examined.
