Description
A spiral wrap is a filament twisted around a cord made of several strands or filaments. It is generally of smaller diameter and twisted with a lower lay length. Its main role is to preserve the structural integrity of the cord and prevent individual filaments from buckling a migrating. Because of the low level of twist, the wrap subjects the neighboring filaments to a point contact with high contact stresses. This state of stress is accentuated by the applied external loads
