This paper deals with some of the new and innovative approaches in the design and fabrication of composite wire using a cladding process. Advantages and limitations of other composite processes are discussed. The clad metal design concepts presented claim improved functional properties, high strength electrical conductivity, and corrosion control. Specifically, the MagnaCu wire, a triclad wire system, is investigated.
