Integrating online machine condition monitoring with quality monitoring in the cable industry

$15.00

Given the commonality in parameters that are indicators of quality and machine condition, it is worth considering the combination of these two concepts into one computerized monitoring system. Vibration sensors mounted on certain machine rolls or guides may indicate a bearing problem with high-frequency signals and tension variation with low-frequency signals. Thus with a single sensor the system may be able to sense a quality problem in the product or a machine problem that requires maintenance. This paper explores the applications that are candidates for this combination.
