This paper will deal with some recommendations to take full advantagefrom the lessons learned during the ISO 9000 movement, and how to applythem in the preparations for the registration by third parties of yourEnvironmental Management Systems (EMS) according to the ISO 14000standard. Discussion will be presented on how the ISO 14000 movementcan be a competitive advantage and an opportunity for productdifferentiation, energy savings, waste reduction and the reengineering ofthe product and processes for environmental purposes.
