The constant strength method of lead patenting high carbon steel rod and wire is described. The method patents all rod and wire, regardless of size, to the same strength; the patented microstructure is constant; quench temperatures are similar from heat to heat; strength from wiredrawing is consistent; and variations in properties of the finished product are minimized.
