The importance of lubrication during wiredrawing and some difficulties due to drawing defective rod and wire are discussed. The properties and composition of Carboloy carbide dies, rod defects (slivers, cracks, out of round, overlaps, overfills, scale), effects of poor cleaning, preparation of rod for drawing, good lubricant qualities, dry and wet drawing coating, dragging the wire, and acid action in wiredrawing solution are discussed.
