The paper will examine the differences between the conventional mechanical drivesused between the various elements of a typical cable line, and the more modern approach using precise digital control. A review of the developments now taking place to enhance the systems are becoming more economically available are described such as, color graphic displays, large storage memory and networking with other computers.
