In the ultra-fine range, microstructural details and loading anomalies are important, size-related considerations. This paper addresses such considerations and extends classical drawing analysis into the ultra-fine range. The general issue of friction and the increase of surface-to-volume ratio, with reduced diameter, is reviewed. The role of wire and die grain size is considered.
