Description
The advantages of computerization of manufacturing processes in the wire and cable industry are highlighted. With productivity at reasonable cost a goal, coordination between all plant processes, both automated and non-automated, is necessary. This paper advocates using microcomputers as an economical way to obtain feedback for virtually all plant processes. An alternative approach for plants with a centralized computer system in place is to route data from monitoring units to the central computer.
