DuPont has developed a jacket thermostat compound, TSJ-1. The product demonstrates strong performance on fire hazard testing, both against the U.S. Navy’s requirements and those of some European specifications. Among the strengths of the new compound vs. PVC jacketing is the reduction of smoke evolution and good wet electrical characteristics for underground metro applications. A compound has also been developed (TSI-1) which uses mineral flame retardants and has outstanding wet electrical stability.
