New facilities built at the Gilbert & Bennett Mfg Co Blue Island plant for hot dip galvanizing and lead pre-annealing of steel wire are described. The plant treats 12 strands of 16-12 gauge wire at 25 fpm for use in woven and welded wire fabrics. Features include wire guides that prevent kinking, effective smoke and fume collectors, and a unique radiant tube heating unit.
