This paper focuses on two novel tests: one for visual seam detection without pickling and a laboratory test for ‘cold headability.’ The concepts, equipment, and typical results for both tests are described. An overview of intercritical annealing in continuous furnaces and the fundamentals of phoslube coating are also presented.
