Description
An AISI 410 stainless steel wire (13% Cr, 1% Mo) developed for springs is described. Technical characteristics, heat treatment conditions, the use of nickel plate as a drawing lubricant, wiredrawing and mechanical properties, static mechanical characteristics, fatigue characteristics, heat resistance, results of strain and rust acceleration tests, strength, polarization, results of an atmospheric exposure test, delayed failure, and effects of anneal are discussed.
