Description
The microalloyed steels already have a 20-year history. The main factors in the grounds of these developments are the following: the saving of energy, raw materials, processing and handling costs.Particularly in the areas of wirerod, the microalloying elements, the controlled rolling, and the cold deformation (cold drawing, cold heading) allow for the elimination of the usual heat treatment (annealing of wire, quenching and tempering of the pieces). The two grades developed by ASCOMETAL (0.2 C – 1.2 Mn – TI-B and 0.1 C – 1.7 Mn – Nb – B) allow a class resistance 8.8 and 10.9 (ISO 898/1) to be achieved by cold working.
