On the origin of twist test cracks in copper rod

$15.00

A metallographic analysis of copper oxide inclusions and other surface defects has been made for continuously cast copper rod. Variations of defect size, incidence of occurrence and exact position with reference to the rolling direction have been determined and are displayed as frequency histograms. Using an optical technique, orientation of cracks that form during torsional twist tests has been determined and plotted with respect to identical reference marks. Correlation has been found between the position and severity of these cracks and the corresponding location.
