Description
The wiredrawing process has been well studied for the production of high strength, high carbon steel tire cord. With the increased demand of better filament properties and higher die life, optimization of the drawing parameters are essential. Designed experiments were conducted by using a 2 factorial design. Effects of drawing variables on tensile strength, ductility, and fatigue properties were measured. Theoretical calculations of drawing loads and friction factors were found to correlate closely with the experimental results.
