Optimization of mechanical descaling for tire cord application

$15.00

Mechanical descaling is rapidly becoming popular in the wire industries because it is on-line, rapid and environmentally clean. At UNIMETAL a study has been made of scale formation on tire cord to determine the major parameters affecting scale adhesion and consequently scale removal. A first appraisal was made through a laboratory simulation of industrial rolling and cooling. The optimum conditions were determined and applied industrially. In-house customer trails show major improvements and confirm the laboratory trials.
