This paper presents the principles of oxygen-free copper from both metallurgical and manufacturing points of view. Emphasis is on the structure and applications of oxygen-free copper from the wire and cable manufacturer’s point of view. The description of the manufacturing of oxygen-free copper is based on the Outokumpu UPCAST process.
